Some Aspects of the Time of Presence, Irene Makarova

Irene Makarova is a vivid artist whose creative interest turns to the theme of the eternal penetrating modern reality. Observing how this eternal is embodied through the objects and stories around her, as well as through the human body, Irene captures moments of the eternal in the present through visual images. Irene's artistic language is quite diverse, but the author's technique and composition are recognizable. Irene often uses bright open colours and expresses her ideas through oil painting. As the artist herself says, oil painting has its physiology for her. The artist explores the theme of disruption, crisis, of a turning point, when the future ceases to be a continuation of the past. The figures on the canvas are frozen outside of time and space and their physical connection does not at all imply the presence of relationships. We see an inverted face mask in the lowered hands, and this face will never return to its previous location, as the next course of time and events begins to take an entirely different route from the previous one, one that we no longer know. Thus, for example, a pandemic, which suddenly appeared, stopped the usual flow of time, and we saw an entirely different event landscape that, in turn, is now rapidly changing into the next, much more conflictual and traumatic discontinuity.
